Awards Ceremony (5th-8th grade):
This year's awards ceremony will take place on June 17th at 9:00am-10:00am, this event will be shared via Zoom for all parents and for at-home students winning an award. If your student is receiving an award you will get an invitation to join the Zoom meeting to watch the event.
Any awards given to at-home students will be left in the front office for pickup.
We are looking forward to each of the end of year events for our 8th graders and are excited to be able to provide them with some of our traditional celebratory events. Safety is going to be our top priority, so with each event we will be sure to follow all safety guidelines and protocols, masks will be worn, hand sanitizer will be provided, and students will be monitored for social distancing. This has been a memorable year and we want to send off our 8th graders with the enthusiasm and fun they deserve!
Thank you for all of your support!

8th Grade Promotion Gowns |
Calling for photos
The theme of this year’s yearbook is Overcoming Challenges and one of the biggest challenges was starting the year with Distance Learning. If you have photos of students learning anything - school or not - at home during August, September, and October please send them in with a blurb or caption about what was being learned or what challenge to learning was being overcome. If you took a picture of your son or daughter’s first day of school (way back in August), we would love to include those in the yearbook also. Please send photos to [email protected] More information to come about 8th grade dedications, cap and gown photos, ordering a yearbook and all to come. |
When: Friday, April 30th, 2021 between 7:00-12:00 pm
Where: MHS Carline by the Front Office DCS staff will be hosting a Promotion gown pickup on April 30th. Parents can drive through the MHS carline to receive their students’ Promotion gown. All students were measured and all have a gown ready and waiting for them. During this drive-thru, there is no need for students or parents to get out of their cars - a DCS staff member will bring the gown to the car.
We are encouraging parents to take a photo of their promoting student to submit to Lori Rodieck to add to this years’ yearbook AND for students to wear their gown during our Promotion. Please email pictures to Ms. Rodieck no later than Friday, May 14th. We understand that these are challenging times for our TLC community. We are charging $20 per gown during our pickup. If you are unable to purchase your student’s gown for this amount please contact [email protected] and we will make the necessary accommodations. We are able to accept cash or check (payable to Tracy Learning Center) during our drive-thru pickup. ***Please be on the lookout for an email about Promotion and 8th grade from Mrs. Cerezo within the next two weeks! We are excited to bring back old traditions here at Discovery!***

8th Grade Gown Information
8th grade parents: During picture day, staff will take measurements of students as they come to campus for their promotion picture. Once all measurements have been taken, Ms. Zaca will place a gown order for all 8th grade students. In May, there will be a gown pick up day through our DCS Carline. The date and time of the gown pickup will be emailed out to parents as we near the month of May.
DCS will be closed for in-person learning the week of January 18th. We will return to campus on January 25th.
A Note about online and in-person learning:
Parents/Guardians: Please remind your students that if they are home for quarantine reasons (and not actually sick themselves) then they need to log on to their online classes. If they are home sick, they do NOT need to log on to their online classes and can make up the work when they return. They, however, should not decide to stay home one day and log on to the online classes if they are an in-person student. Thank you!

Filming During Distance Learning
Hi everyone!
Over the last few weeks we have been asked about parents wanting to film during virtual classes. We ask that if you want to film that you:
1: Let the teacher of the class know ahead of time that you plan to film parts of/or all of their lesson
2: That you only use the audio version of filming and not video (for privacy concerns and the safety of other students in the class)
If you have any questions or concerns about this please email Ashley Cerezo (7/8) [email protected] or Kathy Prescott (5/6) [email protected].

TDap Information for 7th Grade Parents and Students
As required by California law (Health and Safety Code 120325 – 120375), parents need to provide proof of a Tdap vaccine (pertussis – Whooping Cough Booster) for all students entering the 7th grade. Documentation must state the shot was given on or after their 7th birthday. This means ALL current 7th graders must get up to date NOW.
For questions, please call your primary physician today or call the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Program, at (209) 468-3481.
Your student’s copy of his/her Tdap Immunization is due by Oct. 1, 2020 or upon return to campus date, whichever date comes first.
